What have the last 30 odd polls told us?
They have told us
that the people want this government out, and
that the people do not want Bill Shorten as PM
The obvious thing to do for the poll and focus group driven factional chiefs in the Labor Party is to dump Shorten in favor of someone who actually connects to people and won't follow the populist or "me-too" routes.
But they won't. They have gone to the well too many times in the past, coming back with the same leader, just with a different face and name.
We will "settle" for Shorten as PM , go through 3 or 4 years of the same old same old internal dramas, policy--following-the-wind shifts and international embarrassment. all tempered by a few dry bones thrown to the faithful dogs. Then at the end of the term, we'll have forgotten how godawful the coalition is and give them another turn.
Groundhog Day has been with us for a very long time, and it looks set to stay a while longer...
